REGATTA JABUKA

 

What began as a local sailing enthusiasts’ project in Vodice has grown into one of Croatia’s most renowned offshore sailing events. From its first edition with just 16 boats, Regata Jabuka has developed into an international regatta attracting more than 100 boats and nearly 1,000 sailors from Croatia and abroad. The race follows a demanding offshore course from Vodice to the island of Jabuka and back, covering approximately 110 nautical miles.
Traditionally starting at night, the regatta takes sailors into the open Adriatic, where bura, jugo and rapidly changing November conditions test their endurance, seamanship and tactical skills. The remote and mysterious island of Jabuka is at the heart of the race. Reaching and rounding the island in the darkness has become a defining experience and a symbol of the regatta itself. Today, Regata Jabuka is not only a challenging offshore race but also a major sailing tradition and an important part of Vodice’s identity, bringing together sailors from across Croatia and the international sailing community.
